The areas of interest of this Centre of Excellence are essentially two: diseases of the digestive system, in particular neoplasms of the colorectum, and those of the endocrine-metabolic system. The two areas have points in common and, in both cases, excellence is based on the maximum possible integration between medicine and surgery. It is a very important asset, not yet obvious in the Italian hospital and university world. The reasons for this medical-surgical integration then translate not only into the completeness of the offer to the patient, but also into innovation and the mutual search for cutting-edge solutions and new paths that are always updated. This is true for both gastrointestinal and endocrine-metabolic diseases: think – for example - of obesity and metabolic syndromes, for which there are strong interactions today with both surgery and endoscopic technique. The main innovation of the Center of Excellence for Gastrointestinal and Endocrine-Metabolic Diseases is the attempt to put together and share paths without barriers between medical and surgical specialties, which is the main characteristic of a Center that aims to be excellent in the diagnostic-therapeutic offer.

Centre of research on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the biliary tract and pancreas.
It focus on the benign and malignant pathology of the gallbladder and biliary tract, of the pathology of wall defects.
It treats abdominal surgical pathologies according to modern national and international guidelines
It provides services such as diagnostic and operative endoscopy of the upper and lower digestive tract.
