Gallbladder and Abdominal Wall Surgery

The Complex Operating Unit of Gallbladder and Abdominal Wall Surgery has as its main focus the treatment and research of benign and malignant pathology of the gallbladder and biliary tract, of the pathology of wall defects (laparoceles, umbilical hernias, abdominal, inguinal). In addition, the activity of the Facility is engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of urgent abdominal pathology pertaining to the Emergency and Acceptance Department.

They have been developed within the Centre of Excellence for Gastrointestinal Diseases of the multidisciplinary pathways involving Gastroenterologists, Endoscopists and Surgeons for the diagnosis, treatment and management of lithiasic pathology of the gallbladder and biliary tract. This allows the patient to be followed from the early stages of diagnosis until the next post-operative follow-up.

The surgical treatment of gallbladder lithiasis  is carried out with a minimally invasive videolaparoscopic technique.

The optimisation of the intervention preparation process and the application of the One Day Surgery protocols, allows to treat most of the afferent diseases with a hospital stay of 24-48 hours.

Scheduled hospitalizations are carried out according to a computerized waiting list in which the priority of the hospitalization in relation to the pathology is reported. The secretariat of the Hospitals Office will notify in advance the dates of the pre-hospitalisation and the subsequent phases of hospitalization and surgery.

Within our Hospital there is also an office for freelance-professional activity with agreements with the main insurance companies in the sector.
