The Traumatology Unit at Ospedale Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola specializes in the assessment and treatment of traumatic injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
Each patient’s care plan takes into account the type of injury, their overall health and their functional needs to determine the most appropriate non-surgical or surgical treatment.
Care focuses on managing the injury and restoring mobility and independence, with particular attention to vulnerable patients and continuity of care. A notable example is the management of patients with femoral neck fractures, more than 90% of whom undergo surgery within 48 hours.
The Unit is also a referral point for the diagnosis and treatment of major musculoskeletal tumors, offering dedicated outpatient services and surgical care pathways.
